Olivem® 1000 is a PEG-free self-emulsifying multifunctional ingredient (white to ivory waxy flakes at 20°C, melting point ~ 70°C). It is a complex combination of fatty acids, chemically similar to the lipidic composition of the skin surface. Olivem® 1000 has the ability to generate liquid crystal structures that mimic the stratum corneum organization. As the sole emulsifier, Olivem® 1000 provides a deep moisturizing effect with excellent spreadability and no soapy effect. It has good compatibility with Dihydroxyacetone and with alpha-hydroxy acids and is useful in formulations with pH 3 – 12. Further, it is COSMOS-validated. The recommended use level for Olivem® 1000 is 1.5 – 4% in o/w emulsions as the sole emulsifier (3 – 4% for higher viscosity systems).

Olivem 1000mbI made a large batch of lotion with this emulsifier to sell for Christmas. Everyone who bought it says it has a light feel. I don't understand the comment that says it has a heavy feel. Maybe I added more water. Love this emulsifier and getting good sales.

Love this product so much because it didn't irritate my eyesI have been formulating lotions with this in combination with Leucidal products with good results. The extra moisturizing from the emulsifier and preservative in combination has made a quickly absorbed product that is silky but not heavy. Most face products make my face sweat. I made a face serum with 4% OliveM and 4% Leucidal because using Natural ingredients is a priority for me. I have sensitive skin that is easy irritated, and I can use this product around the eyes (over, under, on the lids) without a reaction. That alone has won my loyalty.

Emulsifies well, but is very “heavy” on skinI use this emulsifier for my highly moisturizing body cremes. It is really pH stable (I like to use Geogard preservative—gluconolactone—and not all natural emulsifiers play nice with this). Forms a lovely creamy opaque. Would not be suitable for lighter body lotions, cremes. Tried it in my hand creme, but has a bit too heavy a feel, I am going to use a lighter emulsifier.
