You know I don't like complicated, so you're only going to need 3 ingredients for this recipe.
Why Do a DIY Microdermabrasion Treatment
Microdermabrasion works in much the same way that a facial peel does, by sloughing off the top layer of skin to rejuvenate tired skin. Spas and dermatologists can charge upwards of $100 for just one microdermabrasion treatment.
Conventional treatments rely on silica and aluminum oxides to exfoliate the skin, but these may not be the safest option.
Microdermabrasion also stimulates skin cells to regenerate more quickly to reduce the signs of aging.
DIY Microdermabrasion Ingredients
Unlike a facial scrub that typically relies on salt or sugar, microdermabrasion is done with much finer particles and for a longer period of time.
When doing a microdermabrasion treatment at home, a variety of powders can be used for the base including:
- Cornmeal
- Baking Soda
- Activated Charcoal
- Ground Lemon or Orange Peel
- Beet Root Powder
- Oat Flour
All of these are good options. Just make sure that the powder is very fine, preferably like the consistency of baking soda.
How Often Should You Do A Microdermabrasion Treatment
Microdermabrasion can be done once a month, up to once a week. Just pay attention to how your skin is responding to the treatment.
